Hello Kippen
Welcome to Rootschat. Can you add any more about John Graham where he lived, what was his occupation and his wifes name if he was married. The Newcastle United connection may not be mentioned in the Deaths notice but a wife or if he was not married parents name probably would be
                                        Regards

Grant thanks for your advice.Address of the above in 1920 was 11 Sefton Avenue Heaton.Wife was Emily Pitman Graham nee Cooper.Had an adopted daughter known as "the Peach" but do not expect that name to be in a death notice. He was supposed to be Head Postmaster for Newcastle but cannot confirm, but did work for the Post Office. He was also involved in setting up Boys Clubs.

Hello again
The film readers have been busy at the Local Histoey Centre so today was the first chance I have had to use one, as it happens that has helped. Instead of looking up the Chronicle I have been searching Directories and Electoral Rolls and included John Graham in those I was looking for
 The results are as follows
1910 Wards Directory
John Graham  Postal Superintendent 107 Cardigan Terrace
1914 Kelly's Directory
John Graham 16 Sefton Avenue  Postal Superintendent
1914 Roll of Citizens
John Graham  16 Sefton Avenue and 107 Cardigan Terrace
1916 Wards Directory
John Graham 16 Sefton Avenue Postal Superintendent
1918 Register of Electors 11 Sefton Avenue
John Graham
Emily Pitman Graham
1920 Register of Elactors  11 Sefton Avenue
John Graham
Emily Pitman Graham
Margaret Edith Miller Cooper
same occupants to 1948
1949 Register of Electors 1949 11 Sefton Avenue
Emily P Graham
Margaret E M Cooper
repeated in 1951

General Record Office Deaths Index Jul- Sept 1948
John Graham 85 Newcastle T Volume 1b Page 175

Newcastle Evening Chronicle Thursday 29th July 1948
Graham_ Heaton, 11 Sefton Avenue, July 28, aged 85, John dearly loved husband of Emily Graham. Interment Heaton Cemetery Saturday 11.15 am

Small article on the same date
DEATH OF FORMER UNITED DIRECTOR
For several years a director of Newcastle United football club Mr John Graham, a former postmaster of North and South Shields, died at his home in Sefton Avenue, Newcastle yesterday aged 85.
A native of Seahouses Mr Graham spent 43 years in the Civil Service. He was appointed Postmaster of South Shields in 1919 and of North Shields in addition a year later, returning in 1923

You can probably find more on his Civil Service and Post Office career by searching the London Gazette which is archived online

                                     Regards
                                               Grant

Thanks Grant for all the information.I have been looking for some time but NU through me by saying that he died shortly after retirement. At least one part of the family jigsaw is solved. Kippen
