Now retired and catching up on all the things you want to do.and never found time to do. My G/grandfather,Edward Catliff was a merchant [gran said on the cutty ships] all I know is that grandad his first child, was born in Uk 1863 then 5 children were born in Calcutta.g/gfather was back in London in 1872 when his wife died in childbirth.
He remarried in 1872 and the next child was born in Calcutta. surely that cant be the end of the story? How do I find out who he worked for and what happened In India
any help would be gratefully received
