Hi Ginny

yes she will take a look for you ;D I am correct in telling her that 1838 is their estimated d.ob. ? and also is Johanna Mangan Simons wife or a different relationship.  If it is his wife do you have any idea on her maiden name ?  Sounds like Kate is going to be very busy on her holiday, but she says she more than happy to help out.

Hi Carol

On the British census it stated that Simon was born in 1838, so I guess that is about right, although perhaps it could be a couple of years either way.
Johanna was born 1839, bit not sure how accurate that date is,  I am sorry but I don't know anything about Johanna, not her maiden name or anything.  Simon was a shoemaker.

I am hoping that they were indeed came from Kilrush, and I wish I had more info for your very kind friend.  I hope one day to be able to return the kindness of you all, for your help.

Please tell your friend how very grateful I am, and that I hope she has a lovely time in Ireland.

Have a lovely day.

Ginny

Hi Ginny

I have passed the information on to Kate and told her of your thanks.

I have to ask, have you posted a similar message on another board about Simon and Johanna, as for some reason I seem to think I have looked for them before, its driving me mad trying to remember, it was when you said he was a shoemaker that the lights went on ;D  its of no consequence I am just wondering if I have found something in the past and maybe not passed it on or something.  Have a think and let me know, put me out of my misery

take care

Carol

Hi carol

Yes, you where very helpful in looking some info up for me in January, and I think it was you that said that Simon was from Kilrush, but it had been translated as kilbrush?  so no, you are not going mad, and I was and still am very grateful for your help.

I am looking forward to what your friend might find.  I really would like to discover where Simon and Johanna came from for certain, so that hopefully I can find their fathers names and perhaps Johanna's mums maiden name, and that I can go back further.  I am at a total stand still and it does get very frustrating, doesn't it.

Thanks again

bye for now

Glad to help,

I haven't visited this site much this year, but noticed all the postings about St. Senan's.  Better late than never.  The Mormons (LDS Church) microfilmed St. Senan's Church Register that contains marriages and baptisms.  The microfilm number is 0979696.  I found my g-great-grandparents' marriage in 1836 and the baptisms of their four children in 1837, 1839, 1842 and 1845.  They were from Kilrush.  It is definitely worth renting to see if your family is in this register.

Hi Ginny and Peter

see I havn't forgot you both, my friend is off to Kilrush again next week and returning in in August.  I have reminded her of your lookups.  Hopefully she will find someone there this time, not always easy during school holidays, but fingers crossed, I will let you know if she finds anything.
