Don't know if you need/want this but possible baptism for Nathaniel senior ?

"Borgue, Senwick, and Kirkandrews were united about the year 1670" - Genuki .  Scottish geography not very good  :-[

Nathaniel CANTLEY,   bapt.  27 May 1764,  Borgue, Kirkcudbright, Scotland

William CANTLY, Bapt. 20 May 1762 Borgue, Kirkcudbright, Scotland

Ketherine CANTLY Bapt. 11 Nov 1766 Borgue, Kirkcudbright, Scotland

Parents George CANTLEY  & Grissel SMITH
Source:   FHL Film 1067973   Dates: 1746 - 1855

That does look very promising Cas

Gallowayshire, at the right time.

Glad some of it has been helpful, think the records around Robina Bapt. are missing or hidden, although I do think with info on marriage cert, fathers' name, occ,  and the size of where they lived, area stated.it is is correct.

Found this on another link, but you prob have it...

http://www.flottawebguide.co.uk/research/opr-deaths/opr-deaths.htm#deaths

CANTLY(?), Nathaniel; outpensioner and upwards of eighteen years gardener at Melsetter House; of inflamation of the kidneys and bladder; he was a native of Gallowayshire; 1843 May 23rd

Beautiful pics, here and on the web during research.....really must visit Scotland  :)

What I know of Robina's movements is below (a reply to Brambletye who kindly PM'd me).

"Robina born Longhope, according to one census (1861).
Next sighting I have is Marriage at St Hilda Middlesbrough. Address given is simply Middlesbrough.
All following census addresses are Middlesbrough
Grahams Yard (Off Dacre Street) 1851
Linthorpe Mews 1861
Burial recorded in Middlesbrough Cemetery (Ayresome Gardens now) 1864

Mary Daughter recorded birth 1847 at St Hilda Middlesbrough.( birth recorded as Durham 1851 census. Durham Hartlepool on 1861 census)

William Brown was a seaman, so they could have met and travelled anywhere, I guess, before settling in Middlesbrough."

Also one of William Brown and Robina's sons (Nathaniel George in my avatar) had a 'Family Bible'.

In it he records that his parents came from Stromness.
