WITTENBURY, Cheshire

HI does anyone know if there was a place called WITTENBURY, Cheshire ? I have heard of Wittenbury Road in stockport but never as a place!
The reason I ask is in the A2A site for Chelsea hospital it has a few people from there?

There is a Worthenbury, but I can't see a Wittenbury.

I was born in Cheshire but know of no Wittenbury.  The nearest I can think of is Witten cum Twambrook, Great Budworth.

I have various old Cheshire village and map books, but there is no Wittenbury in or on them.

The name Wittenbury Road, Stockport must have come from somewhere.  I wonder if Stockport Library or Town Hall will be able to throw some light on it for you.

There is a reference in A2A to "Wybunbury alias Wittenbury". Wybunbury is 3.5 miles to the south of Crewe. This apparently refers to a surname but a strange co-incidence

it does seem strange that a2a got about 5 or 6 of these refrences. I can understand one or two miss spelt places but ?
