Do you live in St John, New Brunswick
« on: Friday 18 January 08 01:52 GMT (UK) »
I realize this request is pushing the limits of what rootschat is here for, but here goes:

I am looking for someone who lives in St John New Brunswick who can check out a certain cemetery to, first of all, see if it still exists, and secondly, take a digital photo of a particular tombstone.

The cemetery in question is referred to as the Church of England Burial Ground, and it is located on Thorne Avenue, St John New Brunswick.  A Dr. James Hannay transcribed all of the tombstones in that particular cemetery in 1907-1908.  He did write that the graveyard was in ill repair at the time so I'm not really expecting much.

The stone I am interested in reads:

Sacred to the memory of William Parker Ranney Esq son of William Ranney of Devonshire, England who died Oct 26th, 1843 aged 48 years.

In the off chance someone is able to check it out and the tombstone still exists, please contact me via a personal message and I'll forward you my email address.

Thank you very much.

Thanks very much Janice for the great links.  I'll try the RAOGK New Brunswick link right away.  I have tried their British counterpart a couple of times but haven't received any responses.  I thought they may have been old links.

That New Brunswick newspaper site is an excellent source of genealogical info.  I've used it in the past to obtain quite a few dates, particularly for the Ranney family.

Thanks again.
