Hi Dave, I'm a new recruit to RootsChat so have just picked up on one of the first posts on this thread which mentions the surname "Miller". My grandfather, George McDonald Miller, who died 21st May 1938, was buried in Cathcart Cemetery. You haven't come across his stone by any chance?

Regards
Stewart

Hi Stewart, welcome to Rootschat

I've checked through what photos we have and we've not got him, although that only means the stone doesn't have a war death or an ex-pat and isn't crumbling sandstone.  East Renfrewshire council are seemingly very helpful with getting lair numbers for people.  This is the contact details I've got for them, which helped a previous poster.

There is a chance I'll come across it but Miller is quite a common name and Cathcart is quite a big cemetery so it would involve a lot of luck.  Will still keep my eyes peeled though. :D

Lora, not Dave (Daval) sorry  ;D I latched on on page 2 of the thread  ;)

Joking aside,
I would like to emphasise that damnonii (Lora) has put in a heck of a lot of effort in trying to get results for folk in Cathcart.
Yes Lora, yer walkin the dug, but yer makin that extra effort.
Thanks.

Dear Lora, many apologies for mis-reading the posts and crediting Dave!  :-[

I vaguely remember my father taking me to the cemetery to visit the grave when I was about 2 or 3 as we lived in Simshill at the time. I've written to Rhuallan House so hopefully they will be able to provide the lair reference.

Apologies once again

Stewart,
First time I've ever come across anyone on this site (or just about in Glasgow) that lived in Simshill.
Where and when?
I lived in Elmore Avenue from '68 until '85.
Ma wee maw still lives there.
I'm living in Langside now.
