Can anyone please help to find the marriage of a James (Andrew) Baden (poss spelt Baiden) born in Ludgershall, Wiltshire, and Jannet (surname unknown) born about 1825 in HurstbourneTarrant, Hampshire, about 1850 ???
Jannet had a sister Elizabeth born about 1820 in Upton, Hants

First child from the marriage was a Mary Eliza chr 15 Feb 1852 in Vernham's Dean, also Mercy Jannet 1863, Dinah Kitty 1865, Rosa Jane 1867, brother Eli born 1859 no chr found for him, and John William born 1870 no chr found for him either

Elizabeth married my relative Benjamin Taylor from Leicestershire as his first wife and when she died he married her niece Mary Eliza Baden!!!!
Any help on this family would be very much appreciated

Hello SC

Possible ?

James Bayden . Andover Q2. 1846.  Vol.7 Pg 79

Jannett Cook on the same page.

On the 1841 census a Jennett Cook born c. 1826 is living in Vernham Dean, Hampshire. No Elizabeth in that family on that day, however
Census information is Crown Copyright from TNA.
Titchfield, Hampshire: Reed,  Fielder, Cawte, Goddard.
Kent:  Float,  Cutbush.
Wallasey, Cheshire: Carroll, Ledsham.
Liverpool : Horsfall, Prescott

Many thanks to you both for replying - things are now looking up.  I guess I didn't search far enough back but I'm sure this is the correct marriage and by a stroke of luck I have now found James's family in Amesbury Wilts on the 1841 census (Free CEN)
James and wife Dinah with James, Henry, Thomas, Harry and Emma and the father is a shoemaker

There were obviously more children born to James and Jannet between 1846 and Mary Eliza in 1852 and then between 1852 and Eli in 1859 so I need to search for these

The big puzzle now remains with Elizabeth. If Mary Eliza is her niece she has to be a COOK or a BADEN but she's not showing up in either household in 1841 - so I would like to find her so I can eventually find her marriage to Benjamin Taylor  (I have Mary Eliza's in 1874 in London) - grave info on Ben and his 2 wives in Billesdon, Leics, gave no details so no help there

Thanks for all the help so far  SC

Baptism for Janette:

Jeanetta Cook baptised 25 Dec 1825 Vernham Dean, parents Levi & Mary.

No Elizabeth in the family.  Other children would appear to be Charles, Sarah Anne, Anna Maria and Thomas.

Aha - it is possible that Levi Cook was married twice.  First to Elizabeth Tucker (12th October 1813) all the way down in North Stoneham.  Secondly to Mary Anne White in Hurstbourne Tarrant 25 Feb 1818.

Need to check burials and other baptisms.

Nell

Added: scrub that idea, Levi and Elizabeth seem to be having children in North Stoneham into the 1830s.  So probably two Levi Cooks

Hi to you both again
Thanks for all this data - I had found some after the initial reply but this now seems to be unfolding nicely as far as James and Jannet
Elizabeth must be somewhere but I do not think she's a BADEN as she was born in Upton
After a quick trip to the library through the snow I have now found James and Jannet in 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1881
In 1861 and 1871 looks like her father Levi Cook widower is living next door!!!

In 1851 in Upton living next door is a Charlotte Poore   Head (not very readable) age 28 married
with daughter Jane Cook! age 6, both born Upton
This is indeed a very interesting find because I think this is the Jane Poore (maybe she changed her name) who married Ben Taylor's cousin Arthur Lewin in 1864 in the Whitchurch Dist and might explain why I have been unable to track her down - it's too much of a coincidence otherwise
Mary Eliza was born in 1852 and so would have known Jane
We''ll see what other surprises show up!
Thanks very much for all this  SC
