One of my ancestors was William Branson, lacemaker of Calais originally from Nottinghamshire then Australia

He left a lot of papers and his story and why the lacemakers had to move from Calais are told at

Very good site a good read for anyone who had a lace maker in the family.

Hi

Just to say the book by Felkin is also an essential if you have not seen it.

Ancestors of Nathan Knight and Emma Skeavington

My ancestors are also Nathan Knight (born 11 Jul 1806, Sibley, Leicestershire)  married Emma Skeavington (09 Nov 1810, Ilkeston, Derbyshire) on 14 Nov 1831, St Mary, Dover, Kent .  I have hit a brick wall with further research of Nathan's parents etc.  Their son Augustus Charles Knight is my 3x G/Father.  Would be great if we could touch base.
