It turns out that William had another brother Frederick born 1872 in Aldershot. Is it possible to find him in the 1891 / 1901 censuses please?

Can't see Frederick in 1891.

In 1901 he is living at 11 Haydock Road, Deptford St. Paul, London and working as Forman in a Tin Factory.

He's married to Ada, who was born about 1876 in Rotherhide, and they have 2 daughters Blanch aged 2 and Rose 9 months.

If I want to look up military records to followup your idea that he may have joined the army could you recommend where I might look or which websites I should check out please?

Sorry - not a clue - I suggest you post on the armed forces board here - they're wonderful on there - found the whole history of someone for me including battles he fought in and all
