Keable Lookup in 1851 census
« on: Thursday 06 January 05 11:27 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to locate where Charles Keable (born 10.5.1842) was born, to track parentage, I've entries showing in the following Census showing differing places of birth within census's taken at Paglesham, Essex (where he married in 1866).

1901, Hardwick, Norfolk
1891, Fressingfield, Suffolk
1881, Hardwick, Norfolk
1871, Fressingfield, Suffolk

Grateful if someone could locate the 1851 entry and let me know what you find! He would have been 9 at this point.

Hi.

In the 1851 census index there are no Charles Keable/Keeble entries born c1842.

There are some families that could be related but you need to find more information if possible.  Does he not name his father at his marriage?

I take it that Hardwick & Fressingfield are places put on the census that you have seen as his places of birth?

Have you located his will?  They often name siblings etc.

If you need more simple lookups in Norfolk 1851 please feel free to ask

TB,

Thanks for looking; I have the census for the dates 1871/81/91/01, and each alternate one lists as either Hardwick or Fressingfield (rather strangely). The search of 1851 census for Fressingfield shows no Charles, but potentially one in nearby Stradbroke (again Suffolk).

The Will is not located on Essex records office (his last residence), other pointers welcome.

I'm awaiting for the marriage and birth certificate to come through, the original details came from another family member, who has also just informed me that it could be John Keable, Married to Sarah Cook (not confirmed).

So if any John & Sarah Keable's show up in 1851 that may help.

Many Thanks

Clive

Think I will wait until the Marraige Cert arrives for Charles...

I think I have now:

Charles Keable born Stradbroke bd 1842
(Brother - William Keable born Stradbroke bd 1840)
(Sister - Elizabeth Keable born Stradbroke bd 1838)
(Brother - George Keable born Fressingfield bd 1836)

Son of:

George Keable born Fressingfield abt 1812 (married to:
Elizabeth (nee Larter) Keable born Fressingfield abt 18??)

Son of: ?

John Keable born Hacheston abt 1788
Sarah (nee Cook) born Bromeswell abt 1775

All a bit Sketchy, but given all these places are within miles of each other, who knows. Does anyone know of any border chanes in Suffolk/Norfolk about this time?
