Silburn?
« on: Friday 25 January 08 01:18 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone tell me if Silburn is in Northumberland?
I have just found it written on a census other members of the family came from Carham which was written as north and Coldstream which came in as scotland.

Is it clearly written?  If not, would you like to post the census ref?  Is it the same in another census?

Carham is very near Coldstream, but no Silburn nearby (and I haven't heard of it in Northumberland)

Simonburn perhaps?

1851 census
HO107/2422 Folio 345 Page 10

It is for Andrew McDougal and family 1851 cant seem to find them in any other census just trying variations on their name now.

I see the last child born Ilderton, which is near Lilburn - now why didn't I think of that one? :D

indexed under McCougal in 1871 RG10/5192 fol.30 p.5 and living at Lilburn!

Try www.genuki.org.uk enter it in the gazetteer then click on map reference - it's just east of Ilderton  up above Alnwick, not near Carham!

I tried just Reb* no surname and date & place of birth   ;)

Often a good idea to miss off surname or first name etc and see what shows up that way -- --

It's double L in McDougall in 1881
Rebekah MacDougal born Wark in 1861 census
Rebecca McDougal in 1841
