 Hi  :)

Can you fill us in with a little bit more information, ie, did he survive the war!  Do you have any idea of regiment/unit he seved with.   Or even his first name might help.

McDonald: Greig: Milne: Aberdeenshire
Moreland: Lanarkshire, Whitehaven in Cumbria and Ireland
Cunningham: Lanarkshire, Cumbria and Ireland

Hello Atom12. I have now established that this is not my grandfather. However perhaps you can help as I am not getting anywhere.
My grandfather was Aaron Charles Wilson born 30th December 1895 at Bathford Nr Bath. I have two photos of him one which shows him to be very young and he is wearing the Somerset Light Infantry uniform. the second photo of him shows him to be wearing the uniform of either the Welsh Regiment or Glamorgan Yeomanry. I know he served in France.
The tip of one of his fingers was missing and he said that it happened in the first world war, he did survive the war and died in a pit accident in 1954.
Any help would be much appreciated

 Ken

Hi Ken !

There are 5 Aaron Wilsons in the medal card index ... no Aaron C and no Aaron Charles !! none of them are Somerset Light Infantry or Welsh Regiment or Glamorgan Yeomanry !

http://www.rootschat.com/links/02lh/

Can I ask how you know he served in France ? you say he died in a pit accident and I'm wondering if maybe he was exempt as he was a miner ! Do you know for sure the photos are HIM  and not another family member ??

Hello liverpool Annie. thank you for the reply. I remember him telling me  that he served in France  and the two photos are certainly of him. ON the first photo of him in uniform which is the Somerset Light Infantry shows him to be very young and I wonder if at that stage he was a member of the T.A prior to the War. The second photo shows him to be more mature and I am guessing  that he was in the Welsh Regiment. the photo shows a hat badge which is not that clear, but you can make out the Prince of Wales Feathers.
Whilst his name was Aaron Charles Wilson, he liked to be called Charlie not Aaron.

I have sent you a PM regarding Lance Sarjeant Rudd  Hope you can help

Many thanks  Ken

I got your PM thanks and I'll get back to you when I find something OK ?
