It is the Welch Regiment. I sent the curator of the Regiment museum the photo and he confirms it is the cap badge of the Welch Regiment.
Now all I need to find out is his service number, which is proving to be elusive.

Well at least that's some good news for you, at least you have confirmation of the regiment he served with.   :D 

I'm thinking it might be a good idea to get back in touch with the museum curator to see if they have a commemoration roll with your Aaron/Charlie's name on it which shoud have his regimental number alongside it.

Hello one and all, I have had an email from the Welsh Regiment Museum confiming that the badge is The Welsh Regiment.
However I am still at a loss, as I do not have his service number.
