Please smarten up two grand ladies...
« on: Saturday 26 January 08 17:46 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

This is a photograph of my 1st cousin, 4 times removed and her daughter.
It was taken sometime between 1870-1875 in or near Bathurst NSW.
The younger woman was between 25 to 30 and already had between 6 -7 of her 10 children at the time.

Anything you can do to the photo will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Darlene

Hi Darlene  :D
What a great photo!!  Aren't those dresses incredible...imagine hoofing it round Bathurst in the summertime in all that gear  :o
The original photo would have been an ambrotype (photo on glass) if I'm not mistaken - those black bits are where the photo emulsion has fallen off and revealed the black background behind the glass.
Cheers

Hi Darlene

Awesome photo!

How they must have suffered in the heat, I can't bear it in a T Shirt and shorts let alone wearing a dress like that, as brilliant as they are!!!!
