Ancestors from a French shipwreck ?
« on: Sunday 27 January 08 06:46 GMT (UK) »
Hello all,

My aunt has told a story (below) regarding ancestors who settled in Norfolk after a shipwreck on the east coast.... Based on dates I have, this must of happened in the 1700's or earlier.... Does anybody know of any databases of UK shipwrecks etc or how I might trace this ?

Cheers

Phil ???

grandad told her a story about her grandparents being washed up on the east coast in a storm, apparently the ship was french it had left france for an unknown destination it got caught in a storm and the survivors were washed up on a beach along the east coast somewhere, they were given food and shelter, some i would think returned to france but some stayed and settled here our great grandparents were among them. apparently they went to and settled in reedham
