As do I.  I think that your deciphering was spot on! ;D

I believe that technically the use of the term "minor" could be used for anyone who had not yet  reached the age of majority (21).  From 1753 until 1823 someone under the age of 21 could not marry without parental consent.  After 1823 consent was still required, however, a marriage was still legal if it took place without it!

The minimum age for marriage in 1838 was 14 for boys and 12 for girls.
