Looking for parents/siblings of James Gowans born about 1765, he married Isabella Sorley in 1790 in Perth.
Only parents that I can see that might fit are John Gowans and Margaret Black from Dunning.   He called his first two children Margaret and John.
How can I verify that this James Gowans born in Dunning belongs to this particular family. Have just about listed every Gowans in Perthshire, but need some kind of link.
Both died pre 1841 it would seem.
