Mary Ann Harris b.1867

I am trying to find the birth certifiate of my great grandmother Mary Ann Harris who according to census records was born in Llanelly abt 1867 to Nun Harries and Hannah Francis. The surname is sometimes spelled Harry and sometimes Harries. There is one record for Mary Ann Harris born in 1867 on ancestry.co.uk but I have obtained the certificate and it is not the right one (1867, Jun, Llanelly, 11a, 678). I have also requested certificates for the Mary Ann Harries, Mary Ann Harry's etc who were born between 1866 and 1868 in Llanelly, but as none of their fathers were named Nun Harris no certificates were sent. I would be grateful for any assistance in tracking down the birth certificate.

Hi, you probably already know this but it might help.  There is a Margaret Harris born 1867 in Llanelli (spelt Llanelly) to Nun Harris and Hannah Frances according to the church of latter day saints.  I have checked the BMD entries and there is a Margaret A Harris (could this be Margaret Ann) whose birth was registered Dec 1866 in Carmarthen, Volume 11a, page 677.  This is the only Margaret born at this time in this area. 

Could it be possible that Marys real name was Margaret, its not uncommon especially here in Wales for them to shorten the names.  I think you will find this certificate might be her.  There are no other children recorded for Nun and Hannah on the latter day saints site.

Llanelli Registry Office are really helpful you can phone them up and if they are not busy they  will look for you.You need to ask for Mary or Margaret born Approx 1867 to Nun Harries and Hannah Francis
