Hello.
I appear to have 2 Catherine Galloways in my Mother's tree ONE ON THE PATERNAL AND ON THE MATERNAL SIDE.
I'm not sure of the spelling for either so i've used the traditional for both unless otherwise given as such.
I have searched ancestry.co both uk and au, the IGI, and other trees.
Paternal Catherine Galloway:
she married a David Taylor and their daughter = Mary Taylor was mother of David McPherson, the father of my grandfather.
Catherine and David married on 15 Nov 1818 at Abbotshall, Fife. Her name is spelt on this IGI listing as Kathrine.
Maternal Catherine Galloway:
this Catherine, a generation younger, married Daniel Ferguson (1813-1874) on 5 Oct, 1843, in Whittinghame, East Lothian. i don't know Catherine's personal details. They emigrated to Australia in 1855 (July) arriving in Melbourne with 7 year old boy twins, Robert and William, and daughter Agnes Paterson Ferguson aged 2. Daniel died at 61 in Emerald Hill, Melbourne. I have nothing on Catherine, but that's all here in Australia i expect. I'm just after her parents names. Daniel's parents were Robert Ferguson and Elizabeth Paterson; both born in Berwickshire.
One IGI entry showed her, name spelt CATHARINE as being born on 18 July 1800, and baptised 27 July 1800 in Dundee, Angus, Scotland.
On another page her name was spelt with a K and contracted to Kathrine and she married DAVID TAYLOR on 15 Nov 1818 at Abbotshall, Fife, Scotland.
Can you help please!
Thanks and regards,
Julie Kemp
