i have traced my great grandfather,born 1859 melton mowbray saxelby name thomas his father george & mother maria withers.i have thomas birth cert & the spelling of spibey,on his father married cert his father name is spelt spiby in 1856 can you help

Spellings and variants were very common in those days - mainly because the majority of peeps were illiterate. When asked how do you spell your name ~ most agreed with the person that was asking the question

On GG Grandad's marriage cert his wife is quoted as Sarah FROGGSON, her father is Willian FROGSON and where she signs her 'X' she is Sarah FROGESEN    Not bad for one certificate Eh?

One of the pitfalls of Genealogy but these are sent to test us    The motto of most family historians ~ stop tearing your hair out!
