Sueky

Can anyone access The Scotsman archives?  I'd like to see if my grandfather's death is in one of the papers.

I notice it was trucks. The poor chap might have been coupling up some trucks and the train lurched off. Quite a common accident in those times, and hardly worthy of a newspaper article, I'm sorry to say.  :'(

How true, Meles.

I checked for 'Railway Accidents' 1890 - 1891, and got more than 1000 results.
They were mainly "disasters" or "serious" accidents involving the deaths of many - imagine how many went unreported  :(

Hi again,
I think I may have found something for you by quickly googling.
Try the Newcastle daily Journal, it seems that there are some writings in there about the accident. You may also want to try and email this person first, he may be able to pass on  copies of the articles to you  ( the post is a few years old , so the email address maybe obsolete - hopefully he may still be using the same email address, or perhaps you know of him)-  The dates and place , job etc looks right . It looks like this may be your G, G, grandfather (?):

Hope that is of some help
Kind Regards :)
