I don't know if other have seen this website for National Library of Wales but you can search the marriage bonds which appear to be all before 1837, I found my 4xGGrandparents marriage which had eluded me for some time.

Hi Gill

Welcome to Rootschat :)

Congratulations on your find at the NLW.   Did you know that you can also order a copy of the marriage bond/licence/document from the NLW?    They are quite inexpensive and are a really special link to the past :)

Hi Gill

You will receive a photocopy of the actual document - usually 2 pages.  Depending on when the marriage took place it will either be completely handwritten or on a printed form with the names of the bride and groom, their ages if under 21, where they were from and when the marriage was to take place.   I understand some of them have more information I guess it depended on the circumstances.   The earliest one I have so far is from 1719 and that was written mostly in Latin - including the names i.e. John is written has Johannes.

Thanks Heather

I look forward to their response then so I can get it ordered, I've just been advised that the 1841 census info is missing so this is probably my only hope for some decent info.

Thanks again. This site really works.

Hi Gill  :)

Apart from info on the Nat Lib., there are masses of other useful links that you might like to read about on the General Wales board:

The info are the ones at the top.
