very puzzled.

hello. thought had completed the howcroft saga. was given the deaths of ,
gertrude howcroft age 73 .died selby.vol 2c   page 863.
 gertrude was  formally named smith.
 william howcroft died selby age 77. vol.2c page 549.
 now my problem is not on the selby disc have .1854-1991.
 burials in  selby cem.
 so rang mark . as not a web address. had a look . and comfirmed my doubts. not buried in selby. does any-one have a clue what i should do next. to finding where could be buried . mike

What years are we talking here?
Could they have been cremated?

hello liz.in my haste to put on site omitted to put the years of death, gertrude howcroft was 1953,
william howcroft was 1956.
 both died in selby

hi. reguarding puzzled. just had a thought. if the selby deaths are correct. would it be worth my while buying them .
 to see if it states where buried.as they are certainly not in cem.at selby . as mark .kindly search for me.

A death cert wont say where the person is buried.

It will hopefully give an address where they died. I dont know if there is more than one cemetery in Selby or not. If there is, and they are not buried there, then I would guess they were cremated.

Have you looked for their wills? Outside chance that may include instructions re burial or cremation, or something obscue like being buried elsewhere.

hi liz thank you .for that thought.have not checked wills.
 at this moment in time. harrogate are checking the death details are correct. will let me know.then will have to check ..what burial .took place.the selby cem . is the main one. liz .used.

Mike, not sure if you are aware, but there are two cemeterys in Selby.  The main one opened after the cholera epidemic in 1850s I believe, but there's a smaller one, opened 1970s. I don't think the smaller one would have been catalogued on the disc you mentioned, but it's walking distance for me to go and look if you like.

hello.itch2stich. thank you for your kind offer.had walked to th main cem. and seen mark. was told .another one futher up the road. but short of time. a train to catch. never found where it was.have a few people.not traced yet. deaths in selby. william howcroft died 1956.age 77.
gertrude howcroft (was smith.) age 73.died 1953.
still do not know if had family at all.?
james smith died in 1849.age 49.wife was sarah smith.(was gray)died in 1884
ann smith born in 1862.(father willam smith .mother elizabeth smith)found none of these yet.
mary smith born 1853.same parents as above.
emma smith born 1870.father james smith.mother hannah smith .(was abbey)afraid cannot find these either ,
and last .
elizah smith.born 1874.father william .mother elizabeth .
a bit of a tall order for you as only the howcrofts date of deaths so far.and james smith .and his wife sarah.
the rest .still to find when died .
