Hmm, that all sounds a bit confusing Jackie.  ???

Can you post the census image (the relevant part anyway) so we can see the original?
It just gives a surname?
And you have 3 completely different regiments/units listed there. Ive never heard of Third Royal Northern Reserve Regiment  ??? ???
Name interests: Boulton, Murrell, Lock, Croxton, Skinner, Blewett, Tonkin, Trathen.

Hello Neil
              Thankyou for replying.
I have'nt the foggiest of how to send the image-sorry!

All it states is surname + age (the same for everyone on
                                                                       page)
All I can add-although probably not relevent is...

1891 Living at Dudley Worcs 20 single general lab.

1892 Married at Dudley

1901 Dudley  His wife head of family married + 2 children

Perhaps it's a bit of a long shot thinking it's the same
one , but have searched 1901 census.

Hi Both

What we have here is a case of lazy emunerator. All the names on this page are aged 30, with just a surname, and no place of birth.. All the men on the next page are aged 25! Then 20. So I think you can discount the age as being incorrect.

The regiment is the “Royal Northern Reserve Regiment Imperial Yeomanry”, which was probably a reserve/training establishment. Looking at Kevin Asplin’s site - http://hometown.aol.co.uk/kevinasplin/home.html here were four Richs in the IY but none of which was called Samuel.
