Can anybody decipher numbers on army statement of services record?
« on: Wednesday 06 February 08 18:04 GMT (UK) »
I have the statement of services of Thomas Ford, from 1895 to 1911.  There are some numbers at the bottom of the page that must mean something, but they don't mean anything to me ???

I know it says Character good, and there are some reference numbers, and what looks like a date 15-5-20.  Could these numbers have been added later, and be connected to his pension?

If anybody needs to see the full sheet to make sense of it, I think I'll have to e-mail it to you, it's too big to attach on here, and I'm not good at technical stuff - there's probably an easier way

Hi Rosemary

These look like references to army forms that were sent to RHC (Royal Hospital Chelsea?) on 15 May 1920. Chelsea Hospital administered the army pensions. I think that Ref A70476 was the reference number they would have put on the covering letter.

What was his name? And have you looked for him in the pension files on Ancestry?

Forward a copy to (*) if you can. They increased the pension around about 1920, so maybe he did not serve in WW1, and it was just to justify him getting an increase.

Ken
