Hi

Had a look at the interesting photo ot the group of soldiers, and would agree with Ken's input - apart from the dog ... lol ... who looks like a Jack Russel to me.

The  first Scottish soldier  from left looking on appears to be wearing a red hackle in his TOS, but it is hard to determine for sure, and none of the cap badges of the other soldiers can be seen clearly.

The stiffeners have been removed from their hats - artillery and possibly engineers. Thinking perhaps photo dates from sometime into or after 1916 judging by the head-dress of the Scottish soldiers.

Hi
I expect most soldiers in this part of the globe wore similar uniform at that time.
However, looks like the uniform of the Irish Defense Forces judging by the shape & size of the cap badges, albeit not very clear. I think there is another thread here with a highlighted photo of the same badge.
Also guess that one train station resembled another and I could be way off key with this location but reminds me of the main station in Athlone Co Westmeath Ireland (formally Southern station) midway between Dublin and Galway.
