Finding death details
« on: Thursday 07 February 08 12:46 GMT (UK) »
Can someone tell me how to track down a death when we don't know when it happened? The person was born in 1900 and we think died in Northumberland.

Hi Tessy,

You can search the GRO indexes on www.findmypast.com  or on www.ancestry.co.uk - it means going through the years quarter by quarter up to 1983, a long process I'm afraid, if you don't know where or when the person died.  Age at death is given, which should be useful. Perhaps you'd like to post the name, more details might help

Thanks for that, most helpful.  I'll speak to the person whose family it is before I post any details.
