It could well be somethng very simple. Perhaps she thought Selina far to fancy and  her nearest and dearest called her Jane in every day life. But when it came to "officialdom" like getting married she would say Selina.  Perhaps on some censuses she said Selina, and some Jane. Maybe it depended who gave the info to the enumerator - you can just imagine her using her "official" name, but if it was her husband he might just say "well, the's me wife, Jane, and da kids...."

we can only speculate!

 :) :)Hi liz i have found seliners parents her father was james hurst and elizabeth hurst selina was christened in 11 june 1848 fleckney leicester married 18 sept 1865  also found thomas deacon on there with them birth 09 dec 1866 fleckney
thomas wasburied 13 jan 1925 in fleckneyselinaer husband john deacon was christened 14 feb 1837 fleckney leicester
