Elizabeth Linsey - Ancaster marriage
« on: Friday 08 February 08 03:27 GMT (UK) »
According to the IGI Thomas Leake marries Elizabeth Linsey on May 15 1809 in Ancaster.
The 1841 census suggest that Elizabeth was not born in Lincolnshire (She and her husband Thomas are in Wilsford along with son James).
Thomas and Elizabeth are not together in 1851 and although Thomas is listed as married I think Elizabeth may be the Elizabeth Leake death, Sleaford abt Jun 1846...... so I have no place of birth for her from there.

My only hope in tracking down her p.o.b. seems to be if there is some indication in the PR for Ancaster at marriage that she is from elsewhere.  Does anyone have access to the Ancaster PRs?

Any help(or ideas of where she may be from) most welcome.

Burial at Ancaster
13 April 1846 Elizabeth LEAKE aged 62

I wouldn't discount the Elizabeth LINSEY bap South Witham 13 March 1785, dau of Edward and Elizabeth - this parish is right on the county boundary (with Rutland).  I note the LEAKES had children named Edward and Elizabeth.
Don't cry because its over. Smile because it happened.

Yeh I had spotted that one too and wondered about the proximity to the border.
Unfortunately the name thing doesn't quite work out as Thomas Leake also had Edwards in his family and of course Elizabeth could have used her own name for her dtr rather than her mothers.

I suspect this may be one I will never resolve.

Thanks for your take on it & the burial info., I really appreciate it.

Hi

Checked in Grantham Library today on Ancaster Parish records and found Elizabeth & Thomas,s marriage record.

The Banns were pub. 30th April & 7th May 1809.They were both of this parish.
Witnesses were W Ropson? & Thomas Tyler?.(surnames not clear).

There was a baptism Dec 3rd 1809 son of Thomas & Elizabeth Leake.

Did not find Elizabeths Baptism.
