1851 census Llanelly John Thomas & jane Thomas
« on: Friday 08 February 08 05:00 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help

In the 1851 census for Llanelly

I am looking for Thomas Morris approx age 25 Born Kilrhedyn

Jane Thomas (wife) approx 25 born Trelach

Thomas Morris approx 3 born Trelach ( he is my Great  grandfather)

I have found them in 1861 living in Glandafen Row Llanelly and in 1871 living in Swansea Road Llanelly.
He was a labourer in foundry in 1861.

I am having difficulty finding his birth as to where he was actually born as places he states differ.

Hi everyone
Sorry the names are wrong
It should be Thomas Morris
And Jane morris

I used her single name by mistake.

Sorry for the misunderstanding

just to make things really confusing, part of Cilrhedyn is in Carmarthenshire and the west part is in Pembrokeshire.
www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/CMN/Cilrhedyn/index.html

For bmds, it was under Newcastle Emlyn at that time which covered the area where Cardiganshire, Carmarthenshire and Pemrokeshire meet.

Possible birth reg
Thomas Morris march qtr 1847 Newcastle Emlyn vol 26 pg 712
but it's still early days for registration in rural areas, so it might not be him. Can't see a registration for Enoch.

The name of the house they were in at the census is Cwm.

Possible marriage reg
Thomas Morris march qtr 1846 Newcastle Emlyn vol 26 pg 819 with Jane Thomas on the same page

thanks ricky & osprey

They certainly look as though they are the right ones in 1841.

I shall have to see if the birth & marriage are correct.

Thanks again for coming up trumps in rootschat
