Frederick Gilbert Dawson WW1
« on: Friday 08 February 08 21:35 GMT (UK) »
Any info about this man would be grateful.

Frederick Gilbert Dawson (33)married Mabel Ellen Cook(18) in June 1914 at Hoo. I have the entry in parish reg of Hoo St Werburgh (from city ark). He says he is a sapper  RE. His father is listed as James (joiner deceased) and her's as Alfred George Cook (carter deceased).
A daughter Ruth born 1916 and died 1919 Rainham kent.

Mabel Ellen then went on to marry Sydney Manley Jun1920 in Bridgend Wales.
Rumour has it she divorced Frederick?!

Any details on his WW1 record or was he serving before, and details after this would be grateful.
Did he die or was wounded, or mental anguish?

Jane
many thanks

oops I meant to put this in WW1

hello

I sent off for the MIC for Fred G Dawson.
It gives no clues as to being the corect man. It says
FJG Dawson ( lieut)
Ryl Engineers    rank =Sergt   reg no=5504
Then a whole section on application for long service and good conduct medal via the india office and RE with lots of dates for 1922/23.

So i'm not convinced this is the right chap?
