Sutton in the Elms is part of Broughton Astley in Leicestershire.  I don't think it has its own church but many years ago I searched the Broughton Astley register and found nothing

Ooops....big boo boo....sorry David.....must have got over excited when I saw a William Eames Wilson.
     

There is no birth for a William James though.....however, there is a William John Wilson born Jun 1900

The certificate of George Wilson's birth confirms Martha Williams as mother and later census Sutton in the Elms as her birth place.

Morning All

Sutton in the Elms, Leicestershire is in the parish of Broughton Astley,  which is in the IGI - however there is no baptism for Martha Williams there that I can see,  the only mention of Williams is a marriage in 1830 of Benjemin Williams to Ann Coppland,  could be a relative.  Oh and Broughton Astley/Sutton in the Elms is the other side of the county from Coleorton

I know, Toni....saw them....but no point if going in the wrong direction. They are also on BVRI.

i think as the MArtha Williams from Colerton is the only one in Leicesterhsire (on IGI) in the right time frame it would be worth just finding her in 1841 or 1851 to see if they are one and the same even if the area be incorrect there could be a rational reason for her saying Sutton in Elms instead of Colerton i.e. perhaps the family moved when she was a child and then Martha assumed that is where she was born.
if they are not the same person at least it would have ruled her out.
David said he checked the Brought Astley PR's and she is not there
