Hi Anabel,

There doesn't seem to be an exact match.

This is the best I come up with in 1851:
HO107/2171 408 10
Guilden Sutton, Cheshire
Village Public House

William Fryer, head, 41, Publican, b. Cheshire Preston on the Hill
Maria, wife, 40, b. Tarvin
John, son, 12, scholar, b. Preston on the Hill
Hannah, dau, 9, b. Guilden Sutton
Ellen, dau, 7, scholar, b. do.
Elizabeth, dau, 2, b. do.
Henry, son, 3mo, b. do.

Which would probably make this your John in 1841:
HO107/90/13 4 9
Guilden Sutton, Cheshire

Henry Fryer, 30, Farmer
Maria, 30
John, 4
Thomas, 30, Male Servant
Mary Jones, 15, Female servant

Not sure about the father's actual name now!  :P

Edit:
He's Henry again in 1861:
RG9/2628 139 38
Littleton, Cheshire

Henry Fryer, head, wid, 48, Farmer 8 acres, b. Preston on the Hill
Hannah, dau, 20, General servant, b. Guilden Sutton
Ellen, dau, 17, b. do.
Elizabeth, dau, 12, scholar, b. do.
Henry, son, 6, scholar, b. Littleton

Maybe someone else can have a look to check but I believe it says Guilden Sutton  :)

Hi Tati and Maureen,

Thanks to both of you for all your help. I'm not sure if this is the right John but I'll check it all out and see.

Thanks again.

A google search shows that Preston Brook and Preston on the Hill are the same town  :D

Hi Tati,

Yes, I also searched Google and you're right about Preston Brook. There doesn't appear to be a Preston Bank so that must be it. I also believe this is the right John, so thanks once again!
