jane is with her sister in the 1871 census - but the sister is widowed, so I cant even help with the surname.

Sorry - thats all I have.

as is her parent's marriage.

But no sign of William's baptism

Hi
Before you get excited, I am afraid I do not have any info on your William Williams unfortunately, but I had to say that your comment - the  '(I know, I know groan)' bit  made me chuckle. ;D

I too am looking for a William Williams (well, William Charles Williams actually but not that that helps at all) born around 1820 -1830 poss Worcester, poss Monmouth???!!! and I am finding it really ....really.....exhasperating.  So at least may I offer solace in that you are not alone looking for that one WW out of that sea of WWs.

If I had the knowledge of programming, I would consider starting a William Williams register. Maybe someone will do that in the future eh?

Good luck in your research.

Dear Shazzi

I am a descendant of William Williams and Jane Parry.

One of their sons, Fredrick Williams (born Cwmcarvan) emigrated to Tasmania aboard the barque Louisa in the 1852 with his young family. Fredrick lived and worked on the Clearwell Castle estate prior to emigration.

Do you have details of William Williams's birth in Newland in 1791?

Thanks

Lachlan

Hi Sharon

The record is on www.familysearch.org :

FREDERIC WILLIAMS

Event(s):
 Birth:
Christening:  26 DEC 1824   Cwmcarvan, Monmouth, England

Parents:
  Father:  WILLIAM WILLIAMS
  Mother:  JANE

Cwmcarvan is just south of Tintern, and across the Severn from St Briavels and Newland. Frederic married Elizabeth Bennett, from Newland.

This was confirmed by a professional genealogist as being my great-great grandfather. I have a lot more information on William and Jane's family, and information on their descendants in Australia.

How do you know that William was born in 1791 in Newland? It does fit and is probably correct.

Regards

Lachlan
