I want to thank you for your help. I hope to be looking at a marriage film soon and see if I can find his sister's marriage. If I don't haveany luck maybe I can attached the piece of the will with the man's name on it. He has a middle name but I cannot make it out

Well, would you believe it.  ;D

Augustus Urmstron Meredith married Jane Macnamara 1 May 1823 in Alverstoke.

Elsewhere, his middle name is trancribed or written "Armstrong"

This may help with your missing link to the Macnamara name.

This actually may be more complicated.  :-\

Augustus Meredith the tailor is in London in 1841

HO107/726/8 10 p 15 1 Crown Court  parish of St Bride

Augustus Meredith 45 Taylor (sic) not born in county
Tildia Meredith age 20 not born in county

There is an Augustus Meredith aged 35 in Southampton St Mary in Hampshire, married to Sarah (they married in 1830 in Sussex) who is a bricklayer aged 35 (HO107/417/2 9 p12)

Thanks  I had found both  Umbruston and Armstrong names .
Also when I had looked at the fische his wife's name was Ane and not Jane. Now you know why I am pulling out my hair (LOL) I know there was a son George mentioned in a will . Did you find him in the 41 census. I think he was born abt 1828. I found him in the 81 census but do not have the other censuses.

No I didn't find George in 1841.

But he was baptised 9 April 1828 at St Thomas Portsmouth, parents Augustus Armstrong and Jane Eliza Meredith.  ???

There is a registered copy of Augustus Urmstone Meredith's will at Hampshire Record Office -recorded as gentleman of Southsea, dated 1876.

Thanks for giving me the information on the will. Too bad about not finding Geroge. I could not find any information on daughter Tildia. Think maybe an error in the spelling. I will be going back to the LDS centre and will be doing more research. You are great in helping me.
