McLaria Anyone?
« on: Saturday 16 February 08 15:10 GMT (UK) »
Sorry I put this post in the wrong place first time round   :-[
Is there such a surname as McLaria other than belonging to my ggggrandmother before she married and her parents (apparently).  On her wedding details that is definately the name listed, the same on the birth of her two children (thanks for the help with that a few months ago).  She was born in Antrim though I dont know where but having searched through every site I can find I can find no other reference to it.  She was married, and the children were born in Scotland so is there a possibility of a spelling error?  I did wonder if it was McCleary (possibly, maybe)
Her name was Eliza, her father Francis and mother Elizabeth (although the marriage records dont even seem to know if her mothers maiden name was McLaria or Kennedy   )
All I can say is thank goodness its good ol' Kennedy on the other side!
Thanks for your help

Any idea when Eliza was born? Could the surname be McLaren? (just a guess).

She stated her age as 19 when she was married in 1877, which is consistant with later dates on census etc so 1858 ish.

Unfortunately she was born well before civil registration of births started in 1864 so no chance of a birth certificate and to find church records for a baptism one of thinks you need to know is where the family lived.

Just read your earlier messages. We are distant relations. Your Gt Grandad John was my Gt Grandad Francis brother. I have details of their parents and where they were from.

Welcome to Rootschat  :)

Unfortunately, this is an old topic and the original poster (skymoo) hasn't been online here since July 2010, so you might not receive a reply.

Good Luck.
