Have a great trip. My trip was extended due to a snow storm on the route home. One town we had to drive through home had 4 feet of snow on Wednesday. but home now. I have reread through the posts and think I am up to date. The Crosta family certainly is colorful. I will spend some time googling different names, maybe. Something has got to turn up.

Have you tried posting on sites like genforum and rootsweb. It can't hurt to get as much out there as possible.

Found this.

I sent an email, but it bounced back. Figured it would, as it is rather old.

Cathy,

Welcome to this thread and great find.

Jaylay, it could be worth a contact. I checked Yahoo people, and the address is still the same. the missing number on the website is a 3. If you would like, I will try to call this person.

Found another email address for this person and have sent an email off to her. It hasn't bounced back yet. If it does, I found another one also that I will try. I'll see if I can give you her email address and then PM it to you. (As long as you keep us in the loop  ;D ;D ;D)

Hi Guys - just thought I would update you on this saga.

I contacted the person I was put in touch with through the Codori website - unfortunately she is only distantly related to the Crosta family (Juanita's mother if you recall) and therefore was not able to help.

I received a birth cert this week for Michael Edmund Knapp, husband of Phyllis and son-in-law of Juanita and Edmund.   Their address at the time of Michael's birth was 650 Rockdale Drive San Francisco).  The 'R' in Charles R Knapp's name (Michael's father, Phyllis' husband) was Rowland.  I have tried unsuccessfully to find an obituary for Michael (he died Jan 7th 1999).  I think my next step will be to apply for his Social Security Index application, as the SSDI gives very little info on him.

Also have been unable to find an obituary for Charles Rowland Knapp, died Aug 17 1971.  I sent an application to the SF Public Library, who kindly performed a search for both Charles and Michael, to no avail.

I also had a reply from Stanford University, where a kind person did a look up of medical records for him, again to no avail!

Anyway just wanted to keep you all posted on progress so far, will let you know if any breakthroughs happen!

Thanks again for all your help and advice - it's been invaluable!
