ive not done much on the dooleys as far as ive found they came from alfreton then somercotes william and jain  were born about 1789

on the paras the  9th bn 6th airbourne trained for a t ime at hardwick hall
in derbyshire ,after the rhine crossing they were sent to palastine

My father served with the 8th Battalion 6th Airborne Div, 14436779 D.E.W Harris he landed in Normandy at Troarn, to blow the bridges over the Dives river, he was later sent to re enforce the 9th Battalion as they had took a battering at Merville, so your man may have served with this Battalion ? and I have not heard of a S company, unless it stands for support

             Sorry for such a long delay in answering. It seems from my friends documents we got it wrong. We have applied for his army records but not yet got them but what we do know it was the 13 battalion.
