Leonard Jowsey - North Shields/Tynemouth?
« on: Saturday 16 February 08 20:24 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I am looking for Leonard Jowsey (possibly born around 1824 in North Shields or Tynemouth).  He was a seaman so doesn't seem to appear on any census and I can't find any record of him in BMD either?  Can anyone help?

Thanks
Victoria

That may have been his 2nd marriage as 1851 shows possibly the same son Charles

Here's a possible first marriage:

Hi Everyone

What can I say - thank you all so very much!  This definately gives me something to continue with - especially as I think there is a match as Anthony Charles (his son and my 2x great grandfather) was born in Churchstairs Tynemouth!

Can I ask what resources you have used to find this information?

Thanks a lot

Hi Victoria,

the bmds I found came from freebmd.org which is free to search
You can search census on quite a few sites, including www.ancestry.co.uk or www.findmypast.com - they are pay-to-view, but the 1881 census is free to view on either of those sites or on www.familysearch.org

Would you like further census look-ups?
