I might be. Trying to track back from a MARK Minchinton 1821 son of William Minchinton 1779-1836 born in Milbourne Port. William married twice, second wife Elizabeth COOK on 19 May 1822. (1788-1851) First wife Martha? Also had William 1818 and Charlotte 1820 I believe.

I've also got Minchington's - sounds like something weird... ;)

Seriously though, I've got a John Minchington b abt 1710, married Elizabeth Russell in East Chinnock on 12 Oct 1737 - thereafter the family moved to Dorset (Yetminster & Stockwood).

PM me if this rings bells with anyone.

Regards,

Patricia

Hello All,
I'm just new to this forum, and searching for info on Minchinton or possibly Minchington from the Somerset area.
If anyone has history for John Minchinton born abt 1710 in Yeovil, Somerset, married Elizabeth Russell and died 1786 I would appreciate it.
Regards,
Julie

Hello,
I'm researching our family name, Minchinton, sometimes spelt Minchington, Minchenton or similar.
We live in Australia and I have come to a stop as I can't find any information from Yeovil and Yetminster, Somerset  and Chetnole in Dorset.
We are descendent's  of  James Minchinton born 1752 in Yeovil and Sarah Shears born 1764 in Somerset. Their son John born in Chetnole in 1796 then married Mary Ann Crocker born 1795 in Pulham Dorset.  Their son John born 1829 in Corsecombe, Dorset married Ellen Amelia Butler born 1835 in Falmouth immigrated to Australia and from there I have good records.
If you could help with any of the early history from Sommerset or Dorset I would  really appreciate it.
Regards,
Julie and Brian Minchinton

Hello Everyone,
I'm still looking for information on John Minchinton born 1710 in Yeovil, and died 1786 in Somerset, he married  Elizabeth Russel or Russell in East Chinnock on 12 Oct 1737
I have checked http://wsom-opc.org.uk and http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/SOM/ but I cannot find anything on them, although I'm very new to this and may be looking in the wrong  place.
We live in Australia so can only access information online.
I have been able to find history after them, but would love to be able to add more information about their parents or anything else.
If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.
Regards,
Julie, Sunshine Coast, QLD. Australia

Yes, I have this family all the way to my grandmother. The spelling does change to Minchington, but back again. Same location Dorset/Somerset.
