How do I find Peter HOGG and John HOGG? NZEF

Just a note... Peter HOGG survived WW1 

But I'm struggling to find anything on John, I think the inscription on the Roberton memorial is an error as I have been told by someone in authority that there was no 7th NZEF.

Will update this if I find anything on John, but I'm determined to find out what happened to him!

theres two john hoggs serving in the nzef in world war 1 if you do a simple search on archway post posted by phil you will get the reference numbers

 If you then email nz archives and ask them to have a look at the next of kins or addresses in the  TWO records am sure you will find the right one for them to send you.....Maybe both sets are your John Hoggs??

Thanks Percy... It does look like there was a 7th reinforcements, so that is maybe what the inscription refers to.

mmm45... Ive looked up both Johns and have had it confirmed that neither are the right one.  I think I may have to tackle this from a different angle.... I'm going to go check for middle names.....

Does anyone know about regiments? Would someone in the 7th NZEF reserves for example be assigned to a completely different regiment upon arriving in Europe??
