Hi Clair

The EARL family in Maryborough, came out from Cornwall in Jan 1854 on "Omega".  They came assisted passage. (Ref: book 9 pages 317 & 321)

They are as follows:-
Henry 41 died in Victoria 1877 (aged: 60) Ref: 8617 Parents: Richard EARL & mother: Unknown (possibly Edward's brother)
Mary 44 died in Maryborough 1882  (Aged: 63) Ref: 12392 Parents: John LEE & Mary DOWNING
John  15 died 1903 aged 60 Reg: 6434
William 14 married Selina Earl ROBERTS in 1862 Reg: 2006
Georgina 12 married Robert James MUSTOW in 1862 Reg: 1415
Margaret 10 Married Ebenezer Pascal VIRTUE in 1863 Reg: 3946
Richard 5 married Matilda HARLING-BARRETT in 1883 Reg: 3582
Mary 2 married George RAY in 1872 Reg: 253

Henry Earl & Mary Lee married in Jun Qtr 1839, Truro Cornwall Vol 9 Page 305

There is a possibility Thomasina arrived with her Aunt & Uncle.

Found the following death entry:-
Mary Ann BENNETT died Maryborough aged 71 1891 Reg: 6954 Parents: Richard EARL & Mary GIDDIE
Checking the "Western Ocean" passenger list, entry on same page as Thomasina.
Edward BENNETT 31
Mary  A BENNETT 38
Richard E BENNETT 16
Mary A BENNETT 13

I will check these entries for you tomorrow, at the State Library.

Cheers

Genni

PS: Mary Ann FAIRBANK's eldest brother John died in Tarnagulla Aged 25 in 1900 Reg: 1930

Hi clair,
You have had some good discoveries.

Here is a lookup email address for the Maryborough Cemetery.

millsy27ATbigpond.net.au  [replace AT with @]

Here is a link to a volunteer site which has a person who will look up Maryborough hospital admissions.

http://www.ausbdm.org/lookup.php?st=VIC

See  Suz*****   Smi****

The Fairbank family of Thomasine and Michael have a mention on worldconnect.  Not always reliable info there though.

I haven't read all of this thread but I do have the Index to Victorian Goldfields Hospitals Admissions which includes:
Amherst, Ballarat, Castlemaine, Creswick, Dunolly, Kyneton, Maldon and Maryborough.

Happy to look anything up for you,

Magoo

Did a little more checking, I hope this isn't going to get to confusing.

If anyone looked after the Fairbank children, I'd say it would be Selina Earl EARL nee ROBERTS.  She didn't die until 1927 in East Malvern Reg: 2205 Parents: William ROBERTS and Mary Ann EARL.

Mary Ann EARL married William ROBERTS Sept QTr 1837 Liskeard (William died somewhere between 1851 & 1858)
Mary Ann ROBERTS married Edward BENNETT June Qtr 1858 (Ref: 5a Page 589)

1851 Census (HO107/1901 Fol: 170 Page 2)
Fore Street, Callington Cornwall
William ROBERTS Head 39 Miner  (Place of Birth is ?enden, writing appalling)
Mary Ann ROBERTS Wife 32 Callington
Selina Earl ROBERTS Daughter 7 Scholar Callington
Richard H E ROBERTS Son 3  Callington
Mary Ann E ROBERTS Daughter 1 Callington

1861 Census (RG9/1554 Folio: 57 Page: 10)
Edward BENNETT Head 29 Copper Miner Stoke Clinkland
Mary Ann BENNETT Wife 39 Callington
Salenia E ROBERTS Step Daughter 18 Milliner Callington
Richard H E ROBERTS Step Son 15 Copper Miner Callington
Mary Anne E ROBERTS Step Daughter 10 Scholar Callington

I found the following marriage on IGI - Richard EARL married Mary GIDDY 5/9/1808 Stoke Damerol Devon.

Regards

Genni

Hi,
Yes, Raylen and Jenn, have to cheer with you about genni's work.

A chap by the name of

Maxwell Richard Harling EARL was living in Armadale  and was born there in 1924.  He enlisted from there for ww2.
His Next of Kin was Albert EARL.

The names RICHARD and HARLING are significant in the marriage .....
Richard EARL to Matilda HARLING -BARRET.
Armadale and Malvern are neighbouring suburbs of Melbourne.
genni and Jenn have Selina placed in Malvern
