Geoff, just to add confusion to your Otter link.
I found a marriage for a Martha Otter and Edward Jenkinson 7-12-1829 at Thorney.
1841 census has the following at Broxholme
Edward Jenkinson age 35
Martha 35
William 14, born approx2 years before the marriage
Mary 10
Thomas 8
MARTHA 6
Ann 4
Edward 1 month.
I cannot find the parents in 1851, although I did find Ann and Mary.
Is it possible your William Otter married his cousin??
