Could anyone look up the christening details for John Brewer, born in Wellington 1777 (give or take a year or two either side).

If you go to the somerset pages of Genuki.org.uk and go to Wellington in the parishes list you will find a link to parish register transcripts.
The only Brewer in the 1770s is Joanna, 15 aug 1779 to George & Betty.

That is interesting as John had a daughter called Joanna, maybe named after his sister.

It gives me something to work with.

  I don't know if there's any link but I have just put in a request for info on a John Brewer who was married to Elizaberth and John was bornc.1796  in Walcot bath Somerset. Does this look like anything you can use?

The John Brewer in my family was born in Wellington, but for all census records  he lived in Witheridge, Devon, with his wife Mary who was born in Witheridge. There were several Brewers in Witheridge, so I don't think your Brewers are connected to mine. I have wondered if my John, although born in Wellington, was born to a family originally from Witheridge, which could be why he returned there and married a local girl.
