Middlemiss/Lowry Marriage Lookup
« on: Sunday 24 February 08 16:04 GMT (UK) »
Hi Everyone

I am hoping you can help me as well as you did last time!  I am looking for the marriage index for John Middlemiss and Harriet Adella Lowry.  I have no more information than that though I expect it to have taken place in Tynemouth.

My grandmother was born in 1922 in Tynemouth and these are her parents names on her birth certificate.  I have gone through every Middlemiss marriage index on ancestry from 1922 back to 1910 and can't find anything...though there are a couple missing (1914 – July – Oct, 1915 – April – June or 1912 Q3).  Does anyone have access to any other form of record which might be helpful?

Thanks
Victoria

Hi Victoria,

Could Harriet have been married before?
There's a marriage for Harriet Adella Lowry in Jun 1901 to George Holland or Robinson Dunn ...

and

Marriage march 1916
Harriet A Dunn John Middlemiss
Tynemouth  10b 432

Hi - I to be honest I have no idea.  We don't have any information about my grandmothers family at all.  With my grandmother being born in 1922 - I had assumed (possibly wrongly) that the 1901 was someone else but I could be wrong!  Any ideas how I could verify it?

Thanks for your help!

Without buying the marriage cert (which would show her marital status and father's name) I'm not sure  :-\

She actually had two sisters, Joan and Elizabeth (Lil) but not a Margaret.  Though this could make sense - I think it seems a bit weird that she was born 21 years after her mother was married the first time?!........  do you think checking parish records for Tynemouth might help?

For the marriages, you mean? Yes, I suppose they would give the same information as the certificates - providing you know in which church they married.

Do you know when Harriet died? If we found her death at least we'd discover her age and maybe we'd be able to rule out the first marriage  :)

Just did what you were actually asking for = a look-up for the missing quarters  :P

No John Middlemiss / Lowry marriage in Q3 1914, Q2 1915.
I don't have access to Q2 1912 either (but FreeBMD has 99% coverage for this quarter)

Just wanted to say thanks - I sent off for the marriage certificate and you were right.  John Middlemiss was a widow and Harriet Adella Lowry (Dunn) was a Widower!!!  Its helped me move that one step forward  :D
