Just came across this post, so hope it's not too late to answer!

My grandmother Kate (Catherine) Curley was born in a farm house in West Dykebar, Paisley in 1902. Her father Patrick Curley born in Doocastle, Co Mayo was a Ploughman on the farm in the 1911 census.

In the 1901 census in Great Hamilton St., Paisley, the boarder staying with Patrick Curley and his wife is Patrick Killolan, born Co Mayo (could be Killoran), age 24.

I think the Marron's, or any other way you wish to spell the name, were related to the Curley's in Doocastle. The reason for this being strong evidence! A lot of the above Patrick Curley's nieces and nephews all born in Doocastle, Mayo, gave the final destination when sailing to America as being Cooke, Illinois. Also had some cousins by the looks of it called Marron, sailing on the same ship,. And to stay with their Uncle Mr. Marron.

You can find this on The Ellis Island website, think it's 1915 with the keywords Kate Curley.

Hope this helps somebody out there.
Ray

Hi Katrina,
Looked up Ellis Island records today. The link may be Annie Curley of Doocastle, sailed to US 1920, she's Kate's sister. The other sister Bridget went over also at some point to Chicago.

It has been a few years since I've looked up the records for these, sure there's a link to your family though!

Have you looked up the 1901 and the 1911 census, for Balindoo or Doocastle in Co Mayo? The small village is awash with M*r*n's, Horan's, Killoran's, Curley's, Gallagher's etc. Was lucky enough to find my 2x gr. parents in both census's. You might get lucky!

Would imagine at that time, a lot of the families in such a small community, would be all inter-related!
Good luck on your quest,
Ray
