Hi,

There are lots of surviving RIC records. I think the CLS has some on film so try your local family history centre. They also have the marriage index so you can search for their marriage.

Hello Alcluith,

There'd be no harm in asking your library if they can get you a copy of one of Jim Herlihy's books on the R.I.C. One is a List of Officers and Men 1816 - 1922 with biographical notes. As far as I recall the other one is merely an alphabetical listing off all the men who served in the RIC. There are a fair auld number of Irish people in Scotland so it would seem reasonable to me that the Library would have some books about Irish people.

I assume this is the same Roe family that you mention on your Mullen/Roe thread.

I'm a bit puzzled about the reference to the CLS. I've a hunch Kate meant LDS (Latter Day Saints).

Puzzled? I think it's more than a hunch....I think you recognise a typo when you see one.

Alcluith hasn't been online for a few months but there are 3 children for this couple listed on IGI in 3 separate locations. Ordering the marriage will at least give names of their fathers and occupations.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Never assume what you need not assume. The message was posted on 26th February 05. The poster must have checked the message and a load of people read it and did not query it. It's a really mixed up typo. Most typos tend to be letters close together. If it had been LCS that would have been acceptable as a typo.

Acceptable? LOL At the end of the day we all know what was meant by it.

By the way Christopher, how did your little excursion to Dublin go?

All,

I thas been some time since I have been on this site. So thanks to all that have replied. Sarah Jane Roe is my wife's grandmother and the other two in the LDS are her siblings. These tie in with Robert's posts in the RIC.

I am interested in finding out about the Moore side, we have no information on them at all
