Might be something in this 1910 Ulster directory?:

Hi,
Burnett's and also Corbett's dept. stores were still in business when I was a child. I went to school with one of the Burnett daughters. As far as I am aware her father became a missionary. He is still alive today. Perhaps if you use your search engine for 1st Portadown Presbyterian church you could mail them and ask re. Mr Burnett. Also try Jim Lyttle's website re Portadown Photos.
www.portadownphotos.freehomepage.com  It is not so long ago that I remember an article in the pOrtadown paper about him and /or his work perhaps you could try their web site too and mail them. www.portadowntimes.co.uk

Anyone tell me where Church Street,Portadown and Millicent Terrace,Portadown are in relation to one another. Found Andrew Burnett in Church Street in the 1910 Directory and all the family in Millicent Terrace signing the Covenant in 1912.

Hi,
I have an old map of Portadown dated 1906 somewhere in the house . I'll look it up for you today (time permitting). I did ask my father  re Millicent Terrace today and he recalled it as being close to a Drs on Church Street. He thinks it was a row of houses just off Church Street. I'll clarify this with the map.
Be in touch,

Hi again,

I still have not got around to getting my map but if you check Jim Lyttles website  www.portadownphotos.freehomepage.com you will find a photo of Millicent Terrace. It still survives today. I live locally and I would have called where it is Church Street. The photo is on page 6 of the Sprott collection of photos. I will still hunt out the map for you though.

Hi Aljepeka.
Thanks for you help. Got the picture now, it would seem to be the area between the Carlton Home and the corner of Mandeville Street. Lived in Portadown in the seventies and never knew this street, Thanks again

Hi again,
You've got it spot on. If I'd known that you had lived in Portadown It would have been easier to explain where it was -lol.  I do not know of anybody who calls these houses Millicent Terrace nowadays. It is just Church street. There is now a restaurant and various offices of accountants and solicitors etc in the buildings now.

Bill Burnett married a Miss McIlveen of Woodside Green.  He closed his drapery shop at the corner of High St/Woodhouse St. many years ago.  He and his wife are involved in Christian missionary work.  Bill's mother was a McDonagh of the McDonagh Furniture factory in Obins Street.

Millicent Terrace
On Church Street from the Fergus Hall (the old Church Street School) to just before the old Labour Exchange, now TNT offices, the section is called Millicent Terrace.  This name comes from a Miss Millicent Sparrow who married Lord Mandeville in 1822, who later became the 6th Duke of Manchester.  As it happens, to this day the ground rent of that row and most of Church Street and other parts of town is paid to the Duke of Manchester's Estate which is managed by appointed trustees.

Hope this helps
Jim.
