14 Liff Road, Dundee
« on: Wednesday 27 February 08 15:40 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone tell me what 14 Liff Road, Dundee might have been in 1874.  One of my ancestors has that as her address.  She died of typhoid.  She was a domestic servant and the informant was a cousin and inmate.  Does inmate just mean he was a lodger of where she stayed or worked.

Any help would be great.

Betty

Thanks for that.  I was thinking along the same lines of a hospital.

Thanks for your time

Hi,

there was a Liff Hospital, but that was not on Liff Road. I think 14 Liff Road is a genuine address and it still is.

Thanks for that.  Do you know if the Valuation Rolls are available in the Library in Dundee.

Thanks

hi there...

I know this is an old post, I actually found it when i was researching for information on my own house!

I live in what was Liff Hospital (or the lunatic asylum as it was known)

Liff Road is not part of the hospital or part of the grounds...Liff Road is in Dundee and is still here.

I have tried to attach the link to google maps to show you...but if you google 14 Liff Road on the maps you will be able to find it :) dont think that was available when you originally posted.

Thanks for the information and site you gave me.  That was good of you.

Isn't modern technology great.  The wee yellow man took me straight to Liff road.

Thanks again
